I selected this artwork to re-create because out of everything I have done I don't think it reached its full potential. I was unhappy with the original artwork I created but loved the landscape. To improve my artwork I I change a couple things. One of them was the medium. In the original I used paint, but in the re-creation I used colored pencils and marker. Another thing I changed was on the hill I did not put the grass. I also tried to improve the blending of the colors in the sky. Another thing I changed was the tree. I made it stand out more which is what I originally wanted. I figured all of these changes would finally create the mysterious and beautiful landscape. I feel it was successful and I am happy with the final project.
The two pieces show my growth as an artist in many way. The most obvious way is that the re-creation is better, but to me it shows how much I learned and improved. I have combined a lot of different things that I learned. For example, the way used color comes for what I learned about value and colored pencils. It also comes from what I learned about putting colors together in paint and watercolor. Another way I can tell I improved is my ability to make decisions about what will look good. I also used my improved drawing skills to draw the tree. This class has also broadened my abilities. I had never done a lot of the thing we have done. My favorite new thing I learned would be either perspective or value.
Artists document human experience through art in many ways. One way is the use of symbols. Many artists use this to show different experiences and sometimes to get a message across. Like some of my classmates used during the artists take a stand unit. Some artists may create art about a specific experience whether it be their own or a common or well known event. The picture below is by an artist named Seth Globepainter. I see human experiences in this specifically childhood and the curiosity that you experienced as a child.
In my art this semester I have used human experience a few times. My favorite use of human experience is my artists take a stand drawing. This is about domestic violence and the fact that it's not just physical. Words hurt too. Another use of my personal experience is my identity project. Each little drawing shows one experience of mine that has shaped me to be the person I am today.
